Credit Card BIN Change Info & FAQs
Why the change?
To better serve our members, Acadia FCU is moving our credit card portfolio in-house, just as we do with our debit cards. This means your credit cards will no longer be managed by an outside vendor. By bringing this program under our roof, we’ll be able to provide you with improved service, security, and support.
Why was it necessary to issue all new credit cards?
Because Acadia is now fully managing the credit card program, every card had to be reissued with a new BIN and number. The BIN (Bank Identification Number — the first few digits of your card) changed as part of this update. This does not mean your card is from a different institution. Your credit card is still issued by Acadia Federal Credit Union; it’s simply now recognized as part of our in-house portfolio rather than being managed by an outside vendor.
Have the new credit cards been mailed out?
Yes. New cards have already been mailed to members. As you receive your new card, it’s okay to activate it right away, but please note that it will not work until October 14, 2025.
What should I know about the new cards being mailed?
Our mass reissue credit cards are now being received by members. They have a brand-new card number, a new BIN (the first 8 digits identifying Acadia FCU as the financial institution), and a new look with the card number printed on the back. These cards can be activated at any time, but will not be available for use until October 14, 2025.
What happens if I don’t activate my new card?
If you don’t activate your new card, your current card will stop working the evening of October 13. The new cards will begin working in the early hours of October 14. To avoid any interruptions, we strongly recommend activating your new card as soon as you receive it.
Why can’t I add my Acadia credit card to my smartphone’s Digital Wallet?
Digital Wallet access will NOT be ready by the October 14 launch, but will come at some point down the road (no ETA quite yet). We’re working on it!
