Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can Acadia FCU help me monitor my credit score or view my credit report?

Yes, we sure can! From within your Acadia FCU Digital Banking portal, you can activate “Credit Score,” a free service for our members.  Powered by SavvyMoney, Credit Score will help you stay on top of your credit. It monitors your credit report daily and informs you by email if there are any big changes detected. Learn more by visiting the Credit Score product page on this site. You can also check out this video on your YouTube channel to learn more!

  • Can teenagers open checking accounts and get their own debit cards?

Yes, teens age 13 and older can open checking accounts and get a debit card, as long as there is a parent or guardian also on the account. The responsible adult will need to fill out a minor addendum stating that they are responsible for losses incurred on the minor’s savings and checking accounts. We love to see our younger members learning how to be responsible and are happy to help them, anytime!

  • Is there a daily limit to using my debit card at an ATM?

Acadia has a $1,000 in 24 hours limit on ATM withdrawals, however, if you need this limit increased for a specific period of time, please call your local branch to get a manager’s approval.  Your local branch can be reached by clicking here.

  • How much can I spend in one day using my debit card?

Acadia has a $2,500 per 24 hour limit on purchases using our debit card, however, if you know you are making purchases totaling more than our daily limit, please call your local branch to get manager approval for a specific period of time.  You can reach your local branch by clicking here.

  • How do I get a PIN for my debit card?

When you receive your debit card in the mail, please refer to the sticker on the card to activate your Acadia debit card and you will assign your PIN during this process.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to your local branch here.

  • How can I change the PIN on my debit card?

If your Acadia debit card has been activated and you need to change your PIN, please call 1-(800)-992-3808. If you wish to change your PIN in-person, please visit one of our branches with Instant Issue service. You can find an Instant Issue branch by checking this page and referencing the fine print at the bottom of each branch listing.

  • Are there fees to use my debit card to access an ATM?

Acadia does not charge ATM fees when the debit card is used at a SURF network ATM.  Otherwise, the member will be charged the fee from the financial institution the ATM is managed through along with a $1 fee from Acadia.  However, Acadia allows members to use out of network ATM’s twice each month with no fee.

  • Is there a fee to replace my lost, stolen, or damaged debit or credit card?

The first time a credit or debit card is lost or stolen, no replacement fee will be charged. After that one-time “free fee” is used, the card can be replaced and a fee will be assessed.

If the credit or debit card has natural wear and tear and is no longer working, a replacement card can be issued upon member request. In such situations, we will assess the account and decide if fees are justified.

Credit and debit cards replaced due to fraud or theft will be provided at no charge, except in instances of repeated occurrences. In such situations, we will assess the account and decide if fees are justified, plus offer the member suggestions on how to protect their card and account.

There are no fees associated with debit and credit cards issued at renewal dates.

See this page to review fees associated with replacing debit and credit cards.

  • What accounts can you use a traditional debit card with?

A traditional debit card can be used with a savings (Share) account for ATM access only.  If you want to use your Acadia traditional debitcard to make purchases, you will need to open a checking (Draft) account.  For more information about the different checking accounts Acadia offers, click here.

  • Are there transaction limits with an Acadia debit card?

No! Acadia does not limit the number of transactions you can make using your Acadia debit card.  Please see here for more information about Acadia’s traditional debit card.
