IDCheck: Shared Branching Made Safer

May 2, 2025

Account takeover fraud is on the rise, so we’ve added new ID-proofing security when accessing accounts in-person with an out of state ID at Acadia FCU’s Shared Branching locations. We have introduced IDCheck—a new identification process designed to enhance security.

This new measure will not affect our regular, day-to-day in-branch members

The new IDCheck process applies to those using Co-Op Shared Branching services, including:

  • Acadia members visiting another CU in the Shared Branching network
  • Non-Acadia members visiting us to complete transactions for their own CU
  • Visitors using an OUT OF STATE ID to withdraw money in-branch at Acadia
Users can scan the QR code to access IDCheck to register

Effective May 1, 2025, when visiting a Shared Branch, follow these steps to ensure a secure transaction:

  1. Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org. When conducting transactions at one of the CO-OP Shared Branching locations, credit union staff can now identify and authenticate members with out-of-state IDs in the branch through a QR code and one-time passcode multi-factor authentication verification.
  2. Select your credit union’s name from the drop-down list.
  3. Enter your member number and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
  4. Upload a photo of your ID and take a selfie.
💡 Pro Tip: Save your validation for an even quicker experience next time!
  5. Show your one-time passcode to the teller. (Passcode is valid for 20 minutes.)
Many credit unions participating in Shared Branching will also be using IDCheck, so being prepared will make your visit smoother and more secure—no matter where you are.
