Acadia FCU invests in staff by increasing hourly starting wage to $16

Effective immediately, newly-hired entry-level staff can expect to start at $16 per hour, while existing hourly staff who fall below the newly-revised wage scales for their positions will benefit from wage increases.

The move comes as employers throughout the state compete for workers in a tight labor market. Acadia FCU executives recognized that investing in and rewarding staff is an important step toward building and retaining a talented workforce.

“With competition for talent and the current labor market, we felt this was a necessary step to take as we continue our quest to be a sought-after employer,” said Acadia FCU President/CEO David Desjardins.

“This will result in an increase to our compensation budget, but this move is in an investment in our workforce,” continued Desjardins. “We wish to attract and retain quality employees that will provide our members with top-notch service.”

Pay hikes have already been implemented for existing staff eligible for the increase, while new hires will enjoy a higher starting wage. Acadia FCU plans to continually review the data on starting wages in Maine in order to remain competitive in the workforce, to be an employer of choice, and to stress the value of one of their most important assets—their staff.

Acadia FCU has not laid off any employees during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
