Acadia FCU Breaks Ground on New Branches in Brewer and Presque Isle

July 14, 2025

PRESQUE ISLE and BREWER, Maine (July 14, 2025) โ€“ Acadia Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the groundbreaking of two brand-new, full-service branches, marking a significant expansion into key communities in Penobscot and Aroostook counties.

The credit union broke ground at the future Brewer branch on June 4, located at 618 Wilson Street, the former site of Lee Credit Now. Just weeks later, a second groundbreaking took place on June 26 at the Presque Isle location, situated at 725 Main Street, the former home of Bonanza Steakhouse.

The branches will be constructed with mirrored designs, emphasizing Acadia’s modern, member-first approach to financial services. The facilities will offer enhanced accessibility, state-of-the-art technology, and the same warm, community-centered service members have come to expect.

“Presque Isle and Brewer aren’t just new locations—they’re a continuation of our promise to show up where it matters,” said Joey Cannan, President and CEO of Acadia FCU. “We’re not expanding for the sake of growth. We’re expanding because more people deserve the kind of experience Acadia is known for: personal, consistent, and rooted in relationships. These new branches reflect our belief that credit unions should feel local, human, and invested in the day-to-day lives of the people they serve. Because it’s never been about transactions, it’s about caring for people and creating experiences they can feel. Our focus will always be on our members, and part of that commitment means being active, responsible partners in the communities we serve. As we step into these new locations, we’re carrying with us the same values that have shaped us all along.”

Several members of Acadia’s board of directors and leadership team were present at both groundbreaking ceremonies, along with representatives from the construction companies overseeing each build. The designs aim to provide a seamless and welcoming banking experience, combining convenience with Acadia’s signature personal touch.

Both the Brewer and Presque Isle branches are expected to open in February 2026, with grand opening celebrations planned for early summer.

Acadia FCU Board of Directors, executive and senior leadership teams, various members of the construction crew, and friends gathered to break ground at Acadia’s future Brewer branch on June 4. The branch will be located at 618 Wilson Street, the former site of Lee Credit Now.

On June 26, members of Acadia FCU’s Board of Directors, along with executive and senior leadership teams, joined construction crew representatives to break ground at the site of Acadia’s upcoming Presque Isle branch, located at 725 Main Street — formerly home to Bonanza Steakhouse.
